As the Great Renaissance gathered pace in 1972 the government under the auspices of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said formed a new company. The Oman National Transport Company set up a school bus service mainly in the Muscat area.
In 1975 long distance coach services to major cities and towns in Oman then to Abu Dhabi and Dubai were established, the Abu Dhabi operation is currently suspended. These services have been expanded and now even more locations within Oman are connected to the network.
There were a number of local buses services set up mainly in Muscat but with the advent of more affordable cars and finance these were gradually reduced to the remaining one that serves Ruwi, Wadi Adai and Wadi Khabir.
Today the company has in the region of 200 buses and 320 staff with our headquarters and main operating base in Al Azaiba. There is one major bus station for local and long distance services in central Ruwi.
