When using these teaching strategies it is important to realize that not all the students' question will be earth-shattering revelations or insights. Writings on students' questions will be educational research do not often reflect the fact that, as well as deeply significant utterances, teachers are continually dogged by the"I haven't got a blue pen, what will I do?" type of question. A great deal of time will be taken up initially with a plethora of requests of a mundane nature. Eventually the benefits in encouraging this type of learning experience will become evident. In addition to constructing their models of the body, the students will learn a great deal about several body systems in an integrated way and will begin to link new information with their considerable understanding of these systems. Students learn to analyze information from a variety of often contradictory sources and have the opportunity to develop a more mature relationship with their teacher. Working together cooperatively and making decisions contributes greatly to their personal development. In addition the students gain an awareness of the fact that models are developed to illustrate and explain ideas, and that a model reflects the understanding of its creator. In doing so they gain an insight, not only into specific content, but into the nature of science in general
