Retail Store Sales
The sales process is initiated when a customer purchases a product from a Burgundy store. The item is scanned into the register via bar code scanners that automatically record sales and any related returns. The registers are the beginning point of the POS (Point of Sale) system. The sale is recorded in the register at the store based on the type of sale transaction (e.g., cash, credit card, gift card). The POS store receipt system lists sales by type of sale transaction through to the general ledger posting (cash versus credit card).
