Wal-Mart Stores, branded as Walmart is an American multinational retail corporation that operates chains of large discount department stores and warehouse stores. Headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, the company was founded by Sam Walton in 1962 and incorporated on October 31, 1969.
The online pioneer first opened its virtual doors in 1995, selling books out of founder Jeff Bezos’s garage in suburban Seattle. Amazon still sells books---lots and lots of books. But it now sells just about everything else as well, from music, electronics, tools, housewares, apparel, and groceries to loose diamonds and Maine lobsters.
