Stimulation of dry mass accumulation in the
vegetative parts likely driven by higher N and P availability in the
soil, led to taller plants, larger stem diameters and an increased
root mass and root mass fraction (RMF), calculated as the root dry
mass/total plant dry mass ratio (Poorter et al., 2012), confirming a
direct biochar role in the nutrient supply to plants (Clough and
Condron, 2010; Glaser et al., 2002)
