Health and wellness tourism constant value sales are projected to increase at a low average annual rate of 1% over the forecast period to reach EUR4.6 billion by 2017 - almost EUR120 million higher than in 2012. 49
Medical tourism earns German hospitals and doctors roughly €1 billion ($1.35 billion) in annual revenues. In 2011, 82,854 foreign patients were treated in Germany on an inpatient basis and about 123,000 on an outpatient basis. Russians make up the largest group of non-European Union patients in Germany, with about 6,000 receiving inpatient treatment each year. 50
Figures from the German Federal Statistical Office and the Bonn-Rhine-Sieg University of Applied Sciences indicate that treatments were provided to over 77,000 inpatients from 178 countries in 2010. 51
