Authentic and unique Thai food in reasonable price, I'd like to visit Isarn again.
My team went to Isarn for lunch at Friday. I've seen some good reviews about this Thai restaurant on yelp, so I was looking forward to this lunch.
The price for lunch special menu is very good for a restaurant at busy waterfront street. Most noodle and rice dishes are below $10. For their signature dishes like crab in yellow curry, fried chicken, stir fried squid...the cost is still under $15.
We ordered some grilled squid and lamb for appetizer, both are fresh, tender and juicy. The green sauce comes with squid tastes quite mild. I wish it's more spicy.
I ordered 'stir fried squid with salty egg yolk'...it sounds very exotic isn't it? LOL. I ordered it because I was in the mood for some seafood, and I happened to know that salty egg folk is a delicacy in Asia area, and could be quite delicious if the chef handles it right. I haven't eaten such dish in Seattle area yet, so I'd like to give it a try.
The dish turned out to be great. The squid was fresh and tender, and the salty egg yolk's unique flavor was well presented in the sauce, yet subtle and not over powering other ingredients. Like other Thai dishes, it have combined flavor of sweet, salty, sour and spicy, yet none of them overpowering others. A very balanced dish tends to the salty and spicy side, which goes great with rice. Though I ordered 2 out of 3 stars in spicy level, it does not feel spicy at all for me.
The service was OK, our dishes got served in decent time. I will sure to visit them again for lunch.
