Measurement System Implementation Before you begin to change the organization, ensure the project measurement system is in place. This can take place during or prior to the assessment. Early implementation of the measurements provides a benchmark of performance and sets the implementation team for a “win.”I like to establish “scoreboards” for different areas and post the results on them. Each department has its own set of graphs. Sales might have graphs showing on-time delivery and orders booked. Manufacturing would have a scoreboard with the buffer management and constraint productivity graphs. A company scoreboard shows global measurements such as shipments, backlog, and lead time. As you move through the early stages of the implementation, people are going to forget you are on a journey of greater than 90 days. Every time someone wonders, “Is this stuff working?”you can point to the measurements. This is the most critical step toward creating lasting support for your project.
