การวิจัยฉบับนี้ได้ทำการสำรวจป่าดิบชื้นในเขตพื้นที่ริมลำธารน้ำตกโตนอ่าวยนต์ ระยะทางประมาณ 1,000 ตารางเมตร โดยวางแปลงตัวอย่างขนาด 10x10 เมตร ทั้งสองข้างชิดริมลำธารน้ำตกโตนอ่าวยนต์ ด้านละ 5 แปลง (รวม 10 แปลง) จากนั้นวิเคราะห์ค่าความหนาแน่นของพรรณไม้ (D) ค่าความเด่นของพรรณไม้ (Do) และค่าความถี่ของพรรณไม้ (F) เพื่อหาค่าดัชนีความสำคัญเชิงนิเวศ (Importance value index, IVI) และวิเคราะห์ความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของพรรณไม้ที่สำรวจ ผลการศึกษาพบพรรณไม้ทั้งสิ้น 30 ชนิด 15 วงศ์ จากการสำรวจพรรณไม้ที่มีค่าดัชนีความสำคัญเชิงนิเวศที่สูงที่สุด คือ ยอเถื่อน (Morinda elliptica Ridl.) (35.97) มะกอกป่า (Spondias pinnata Kurz.) (31.30) พลับพลา (Microcos tomentosa Sm.) (22.35) ปออีเก้ง (Pterocymbium tinctorium (Blanco) Merr.) (19.49) นวน (Garcinia merguensis Wight.)
