Therefore, the purpose of solvent refining of Al-Si alloy was to remove the solid-dissolved metallic impurities.In order to evaluate the removal ability of solvent refining, the effective segregation ratios of metallic impurities between solid Si and Al-Si melt were calculated utilizing two different kinds of MG-Si samples based on the experiment results shown in Table 3;the mass fractions of impurities after solvent refining in different MG-Si samples have obvious difference. This is probably due to the difference of initial content in MG-Si shown in Table 1.Contents of impurities in sample (1#) were much smaller than that in sample (2#).
