3.3.5 Environmental issues
Community members opined that the landscape was burned which reflects a picture of black and white, farm ponds were dried up earlier than usual which limited the abundance of natural fish, number of dead shrubs and herbs all around the field, wild plant species decreasing (Mushroom, Phak khom: Amaranthus viridis L., Phak plang: Basella alba L., Phak kik: Telosma minor Craib) mainly from the upland and upper paddy. In Kalasin, 70% wild products were collected from the rice field and 37% wild food plant species from secondary woody areas, homegarden, and in the upland fields, mainly consisting of fields with cash crops of cassava and sugarcane (Cruz-Garcia and Price, 2011).
