4.3. Establishment success
Based on our results we developed a conceptual model on the
growth response of the three plant species to two levels of temperature
and light (Madsen and Brix 1997). The model suggests that
at high light availability, simulating shallow water, E. canadensis
is the most competitive species regarding morphology characters
(Fig. 3). At 20 ◦C this is especially due to a high branching degree
whereas at 30 ◦C it also has the longest stem length. At low light
