Corrosion resistance is an important property of austenitic-stainlesssteel
welds. To evaluate the corrosion behavior of the welds, cyclic
potentiodynamic tests were conducted in NaCl (3.5% wt.%) solution at
room temperature. An Ag/AgCl electrode was used as the reference,
and a platinumelectrode as the counter. The corrosion potential, corrosion
current density, and corrosion rate of theweld and basemetalwere
recorded.
3. Results and discussions
3.1. Effects of welding parameters on the profile of the fusion zone
Profiles of the fusion zone for differentwelding currents in Test 1 are
shown in Fig. 4. Because full penetration is achieved for all three specimens,
