Beach nourishment companies were employed by the hoteliers to install
geotubes (oval-shaped, sand bags made of a geotextile fabric which
when filled with sand exhibits a cross section of about three meters). In
less than three years, approximately 36 of these structures have been installed
along Playacar shoreline (See Figure 4). Inclusion of the geotubes
occurred in complete discoordination, and might have further
