To evaluate the influence of the type of fatty raw material on
the volumetric mass transfer coefficient, three types of rice bran
oil were used: artificially acidified refined oil (RBOr), crude oil
(RBOc) and degummed oil (RBOd). Refined rice bran oil (Blue Ville,
Brazil) was purchased from Santalúcia (Brazil), and the crude and
degummed rice bran oils were kindly supplied by Helmut Tessmann
(Brazil). The fatty acid source in the refined oil was a commercial
oleic acid (Merck, Germany). In all trials, the solvent was
neutral, food-grade aqueous ethanol purchased from a sugarcane
processor (Usina Ester, Cosmópolis, Brazil).
