Take control—don’t lose control
When we’re running late, we may feel we’ve lost control of our schedule and are tempted to do whatever is necessary to get things back on track—like speeding, lane hopping or following too closely to encourage others to go faster.
But there’s a better, much safer way to take back control.
Make a call—either before you head out or when safely pulled over—to let your customer know you are running late.
Re-assess your journey management plan—does the route and timing need to be adjusted for next time? Have you developed the habit of checking the weather and traffic reports ahead of time to make the appropriate accommodations?
Nearly 1 in 3 fatal collisions are a result of speeding. Always be guided by the principle that driving in an unsafe manner to avoid being late is not worth the possible life-changing consequences of injuring yourself or someone else in a crash.
