For a child, increased independence can offer his/her good aspects and so do negative aspects. A cell phone can give the child opportunity for him/her to communicate to the outside world-to know different people whom we call strangers. The stranger could hide behind anonymity, talking to your child and which may lead your child to trouble. Also, cell phones can give the child complete internet access in which the child may access different websites not appropriate for his/her age. The parents will have a hard time to filter and control the internet access in the child/s cell phone for it is not like the home computer which can be easily secured. The child may also get in trouble because of sexting-sending or receiving nude pictures, or prank calls he/she did or because of others who used his/her number or cell phone (Stavrinos, Byington, and Schwebel, 2009).
