English in Camps is a cooperative activity that cannot be carried out by individuals alone.It is essential that all staff participating in the camp work together to make the camp anideal environment for learning which is enjoyable and efficient. The staff taking part inthe camp should take on much more a role of ‘facilitator’ rather than the one who isteaching. What this means practically is that the teachers must be constantly among thestudents helping, hinting, ‘cajoling’ and generally assisting the students in their tasks andencouraging them to use English as much as possible. This is particularly important inlarge group activities such as relay races or ice breakers where the whole group isexpected to do the same thing at the same time. One teacher will obviously coordinatethis type of activity by using a sound system, but the other teachers should mingleamongst the participant
