Thailand's loy krathong [pronounced "gra-tong"] festival originated in the sukhouthai pcriod and has been continuously practiced until the present day. The loy krathong festival worships lord buddha and apologizes and pays tribute to the mother river.
Loy krathong is a tradition that combines of buddhism and hinduism. The buddhist tale tells that when lord buddha went to teach dharma in the land of naga became a devout follower and asked lord buddha,therefore,left his footprint at the bank of the river.
