Increased levels of ALT, AST, and
LDH levels are associated with liver or muscle damage
(Hochleithner, 1994; Lumeij, 2008). Creatine kinase
is an enzyme that is more specific for skeletal muscle
and is often used to distinguish whether increased
concentrations of AST and ALT are from either liver
or muscle damage (Hoffman and Solter, 2008).
