The levels of PUFAs ranged from 8.63% (Malted Milk biscuit) to
31.22% (Club Social biscuit), and linoleic acid (C18:2n-6) was the
most abundant PUFA, ranging from 8.51% to 31.18% of the biscuit
contents. According to Vardavas et al. (2007), this is the most common PUFA found in snacks. An increase in linoleic acid intake has
been shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases (Lopes
et al., 2007).
