'No, no, no, no, NO!' Herald thought in frantic turmoil. He knew those screams, he knew exactly what he'd find but he just hoped to god he was wrong. He burst through a large section of trees and tore through them with extreme urgency, if he had passed any other students they'd think a Grimm was on a rampage or something but he didn't care. He needed to get to the source of that yell; he needed to get to her.
"Weiss!?" Herald called out. He had just passed an open clearing with small remnants of blood on the trees and his anxiety spiked. He needed to find her quick. He stumbled over a dead Ursa he wasn't paying attention to and when he looked over to it, he noticed it was still smoking slowly which meant it was a fresh kill. He crawled to it and placed a hand on its head, hoping to use his aura to find anything in its memories. That's when he found exactly what he needed. As he viewed the last images the beast had seen he noticed it was fighting the snow angel herself, Weiss Schnee, and that she looked real bloody. Removing his hand, he sprinted in the direction he thought Weiss had gone when he picked up a scent of dust in the air and followed it to a cliff.
"Weiss!" Herald shouted. Weiss turned her head and saw the boy running up to her before she forced her attention to the Deathstalker that she was currently engaged with.
"Herald, thank you, you showed up at the perfect time. I need to get this thing dealt with. Hurry!" Weiss shouted back with a horridly scared tone before rolling out of the way of the Deathstalker’s pincers. Herald began running closer to her before a Beowolf major cut him off mid run and threw him backwards. The rest of the pack followed behind it and created a barrier circle around Herald.
"Oh you're kidding me! You're joking!" Herald Ran at the Beowolf Major, wasting no time in dealing with the smaller pack. He formed the fire sword that he had taken from the now dead girl in the forest and swung rapid strikes at the creature. It backed up slightly before raising its arm and countering with a hard swipe with Herald dodged. He backed into another Beowolf before turning on his heel and slicing it in two down the shoulder and it fell to the ground in a pool of blood and evaporated.
“Herald! I’m running out of dust over here!” Weiss screamed to her friend and he turned to notice that Weiss was becoming cornered and nearly pushed onto the edge of the cliff. Herald let out a quick shock of Aura, which burned the Beowolves around him and he charged at the major. He speared it through the chest with a copy of Pyrrha’s javelin and flipped over it to go for the Deathstalker. He didn't care if the Beowolves were behind him he only worried about reaching Weiss before she was killed.
“Weiss, heads up!” Herald jumped over Weiss and sent two tendrils at the Deathstalker’s pincers holding them in place before they snapped at both of them. “Take off now! I can handle these Grimm but you’re too wounded to fight!” Herald pushed against the Deathstalker’s pincers and the two were interlocked into an impasse.
“I can’t let you do this yourself. You can take the deathstalker and I’ll keep the Beowolves off your back!” Weiss used glyphs to air step over the Beowolves and drop down on top of them and Herald let go of the pincers to hop over one of them and ride it over the Deathstalker. He didn't watch enough for the tail and he was knocked off the Cliff side. Herald sailed over the edge and felt the rush of wind take him as he fell. He thought of Weiss still on top of the cliff fighting for her life and he felt something rise up in his gut. A feeling long since forgotten to him. Fear. Herald let out a loud, guttural, animalistic growl. He felt His aura form at his back forging themselves into nevermore wings. He lost all focus on his current situation and he let his Aura direct him as he flew back towards the cliff.
“Herald!” Weiss let out a cry laced over with fear. She had just witnessed one of her only hopes of surviving this onslaught go off of the cliff to the abyss below. She looked around her to the Beowolves and Deathstalker closing in on her and swung rapidly with Myrtenaster to fend them off. One Beowolf got too close to her and was able to throw her back with a large gash in her arm. As the blood leaked out she stumbled to her feet just in time to be attacked by another Beowolf that cut deep into her abdomen.
‘This is it isn't it?’ Weiss thought struggling to breathe and see. She rolled to her side and her vision began fading. ‘This is where we die…’ Suddenly a horrid roar rang out over the cliff side where Weiss was laying and even through her quickly fading vision she thought she saw what she thought as an angel shoot out above the trees from the edge of the cliff. In an instant all the Grimm around her were seemingly vaporized and she passed out.
