Vaccination
Poly(I:C) at 100 mg 100 mL1 fish1 was intraperitoneally injected
into 100 fish, while an equal volume of DEPC-treated water was
intraperitoneally injected into 120 fish. Two days after Poly(I:C)
injection, VHSV at a dose of 106 TCID50 100 mL1 fish1 or the same
volume of MEM10 was intraperitoneally injected into separate
groups of 50 fish (the Poly(I:C)-VHSV group and the Poly(I:C)-
MEM10 group). At the same time, fish injected with DEPC-treated
water were divided into 3 groups. Fish in 2 groups (n ¼ 50 each)
were intraperitoneally injected with 100 mL1 fish1 of FT VHSV
(DEPC-FT VHSV group) or 100 mL1 fish1 of MEM10 supplemented
with 0.1% (v/v) formalin (DEPC-FMEM10 group). Fish in the
remaining group (n ¼ 20) were challenged intraperitoneally with
VHSV at a dose of 106 TCID50 100 mL1 fish1 (DEPC-VHSV group).
Fish in the naïve group (n ¼ 50) were not subjected to any treatment.
Fish mortality was monitored daily for 28 days.
