One quality that an actor usually needs is good looks, and Ashley Judd is very attractive.

Hollywood actors,thought are not usually famous for being brainy. Ashley has both beauty and brains and is proud of her success at The University of Kentucky. Ashley was born in San Francisco in 1968. Her father left soon after she was born,and her mother was a struggling singer who moved so often that Ashley went to twelve different schools in thirteen years. Ashley was 16,her mother and sister signed a contract with a large record company. They sold 15 million albums,which made Ashley ''famous'' while she was still studying at school. She was always independent,so she wanted to be an actor rather than follow in her mother's footsteps. After leaving college,she went to Los Angeles and found work in television. Then came movie roles in Ruby in Paradise,A Time to Kill and Smoke. She stayed in L.A. until 1993,when her house burned down. After that she decided to live in an old farmhouse just outside Nashville, Tennessee, which is unusual since most Hollywood actors live in L.A. Ashley believes that living in the country protects her from the negative side of fame. But her country girl image is not the only one she she wants people to see. She looks elegant in designer clothes and always surprises people by supporting her ideas with references to what she has read and studied,(which is unusual in Hollywood). Her short,wavy black hair and large,sleepy eyes may not say much about her,but her manner certainly does. She realizes that she will have to work very hard to fulfill her dreams. Her roles in Ruby in Paradise and Double Jeopardy are those of people who are very independent and prefer to spend their time alone. Major movie stars of ten turn down such roles,but Ashley made up her mind to accept them both as she was reading the scripts.
