The work of the Maritime Trade Information Sharing Centre is complementary to that of the Interregional Coordination Centre in Yaoundé. The latter provides for cooperation, coordination and communication in the implementation87 of the Code of Conduct concerning the repression of piracy, armed robbery against ships and illicit maritime activity in West and Central Africa88 at the strategic level, while the Maritime Trade Information Sharing Centre handles civilian information exchange and maritime situational awareness aspects.89 MSC expressed its appreciation for the contributions received for the IMO West and Central Africa Maritime Security Trust Fund,90 and called on member States to further support the implementation of IMO projects on maritime security for West and Central Africa by financially contributing to the Trust Fund.
