Port Metro Vancouver - Field Trips
The Port strives to build strong relationships with our communities through our Community Outreach Program. One of the major components is our Educational Outreach Program, which aims to educate school groups about Port Metro Vancouver.

Port Metro Vancouver offers a free, newly re-designed 90 minute school program that is specifically designed to support the Ministry of Education Prescribed Learning Outcomes for students in grades 4 to 6.

A field trip to Port Metro Vancouver’s Discovery Centre is a unique way to engage your students and build awareness about the Port. The program will provide your students with a memorable, interactive, and fun field trip experience that includes:

60 minutes of activities that encourage:
Learning through doing, touching, watching, hearing and reading
Thinking critically and creatively
Communicating individually and in groups through actions, words and pictures
Reflecting on their values rather than telling them what to think
A 20 minute tour of the Operations Centre to get an up close look at Port staff hard at work keeping cargo moving safely and efficiently
Pre- and post- visit lessons and a self-guided tour manual to support and encourage additional brainstorming and discussion before and after the field trip.
