Monsoonal rainfall is one of the important elements of the hydrological cycle and has a socioeconomic impact on the agri- culture-based country like India (Webster, 1987). The Indian Summer Monsoon (ISM) is a part of the Asian monsoon and ac- cording to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the ISM (also known as a south-west monsoon) period is extended from June to September where India typically gets about 80% of the total annual rainfall. To better understand the monsoon process, it is very essential to examine the structure and evolution of its asso- ciated cloud systems. This will improve our understanding on the morphology of clouds, which is broadly a manifestation of liquid water path and cloud droplet size distribution in a cloud system (Shirooka and Uyeda, 1991).
