Zac Posen Spring 2015 is a study in stylized architecture. Tailored classicism is presented
by lines and tech‐lux fabrications that simplify or surprise as the constructions dictate.
Says Zac Posen, “The collection responds to modernist ideals of purity and refinement
through a rhetoric of craft and the celebration of melodic lines. I was inspired by how
Constantin Brancusi would take the seam for a walk on a woman’s body.”
Separates are cut in a lush neoprene‐bonded crepe providing the garments a functional
quality while defining the structure with ease. A white pantsuit presents the jacket’s
sculptural volumes juxtaposed with crisp straight‐legged pants. The architectural lines of
the pencil skirts meticulously intertwine with tailored jackets gently shaped by
anatomical seams.
The day dresses showcase silhouettes to emphasize the construction of the garments
and are fashioned in delicate, eyelet‐embroidered cottons. The signature anatomical
forms are achieved through manipulation of fabric and the depths of the lines rely on
the diligent combination of different textures within a single piece.
The three main color spheres array from optical white to papyrus to ivory for the whites;
from scarlet to cardinal to oxblood for the reds; and from jet to ink black to caviar for
the blacks.
The cocktail and evening looks breeze into the lineup with effortless refinement. Satin
corsetry is balanced with featherweight bustle skirts and an evening pantsuit is
rendered in an intricate hand‐beaded embroidery. The column gowns delineate the
forms of the female body through precisely placed volumes, emphasized by the use of
embroideries and tech textiles.
For Spring 2015, Zac Posen shows a collection that celebrates the innate style of Audrey Hepburn reinterpreted by the ingenious eye of Marina Schiano.
