According to Daoism, when we internalize society’s rules, we lose our own ability to seek balance and natural harmony because we are preferring things according to society.
The Daodejing is suspicious of the use of language to maintain socio-political order. By contrast the philosophies of Confucius and Xunzi make use of language to regulate society.
When we learn a language, we also learn a particular of looking at the world. And education can obstruct us from seeing things as they really are.
In this sense, Daoism regards language as a tool of social indoctrination.
