Radiation-induced skin toxicity is a prominent clinical
problem that affects the majority of patients receiving
chest wall radiation therapy. Severe skin reactions may be
painful, may lead to localized and, occasionally, systemic
infection, and may cause permanent scarring. At times,
radiation-induced skin toxicity may require temporary or
permanent treatment cessation.
