RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES TO MITIGATE
LIABILITY
NPs can protect themselves in at least 2 ways—by
ensuring that they are familiar with their state’s specific
Nurse Practice Act (each state has a Nurse Practice Act,
which is enforced by each state’sBONand/or medical
board), and ensuring that their clinical training and
certifications are current. They also need to know the
scope-of-practice law for their state.
