Similar to specific leaf N content, leaf photosynthetic rate wassignificantly increased with the increase of N rates in the AWSDregime at all the measurement times (Table 4). However, it exhib-ited no significant difference between NN and HN at D1 and W1 inthe CF regime and at D1, W1 and D2 in the AWMD regime. Dur-ing the late growth period (D2 and W2), leaf photosynthetic ratewas lower at HN than at NN in the CF regime, and was significantlyincreased with the increase of N rates in the AWMD regime whenplants were rewatered (W2). When N rate was the same, leaf pho-tosynthetic rate at both W1 and W2 in the AWMD regime wasthe highest among the three irrigation regimes, and was higherthan at D1 or D2 in both AWMD and AWSD regimes. Althoughleaf photosynthetic rate at W1 was lower under the AWSD thanunder the CF regime, it was significantly higher under the AWSDthan the CF at W2 (Table 4), indicating a rewatering effect on leaf photosynthesis.
