Two major problems affecting children are teen pregnancy and gangs. One in every eight births in the United States is a result of teen pregnancy, and over one million teens are from the ages of fifteen to nineteen. As for gangs, many children turn to them because of poverty, and once children get involved in them they tend to drop out of school. Some ways to solve teen pregnancy is being smart and using contraceptives, such as condoms (for men and women), diaphragms, a cervical cap, and birth control. Another thing is Depo-Provera, which is a shot that you take once every three months. Teens shouldn’t even be sexually active at such an early age as fifteen. When you’re that young and getting pregnant usually the guy who impregnates you will not care because he’s afraid of loosing his youth and taking on more of a responsibility. Then what happens is the guy leaves you with all the responsibility of raising the child. One third of the children in the United are raised to unmarried mothers, and over half of the children will spend their life with only one parent. One other thing that you can do if you get pregnant and can’t handle having a baby is getting an abortion, but many teens abuse the privilege and use it as a form of birth control. There will always be the conflict between people who are for pro-life and pro-choice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
