Fresh weight and soluble carbohydrates in petals of cut flowers were lower under postharvest conditions than those of attached flower during flower opening.
•
In attached and cut flowers, there was a relationship between petal growth and acid invertase activities in petals.
•
NAA and MeJA affected fresh weight of petals and speed of flower opening.
•
Soluble carbohydrates content and invertase activities in petals were also affected by NAA and MeJA treatment.
•
MeJA is effective in extending the vase-life of (Rosa ‘Meivildo’) cut flowers, which has a short vase-life.
