Etherification reaction Cold isopropyl alcohol was added to
the formed alkali cellulose (4 ml for each 1 g cellulose),
finally cold propylene oxide (0 ◦C) was added and the reaction
cup was tightly closed. The reaction mixture was
homogenized by well shaking then the cups are batched in
a thermostatic water bath at the desired reaction temperature.
At the end of reaction duration, the resultant product
was neutralized with hydrochloric acid then precipitated
by washing several times with acetone, and finally dried
and crushed.
