Though they may just be volunteers, their role is no less important than a policeman’s role. They work with the police to maintain security and order in every corner of a district for the benefit of the public.
Their sacrifices are really appreciated. While others relax at home and enjoy their time with their families at night, these volunteers conduct patrols in residential areas, especially in crime prone areas.
They also assist the police in operations conducted in their districts.
The Commandant of the Kedah PVR Contingent, Supt Rozali Ab Ghani, who has been with PVR for the last 30 years, said he wants PVR to be given its due recognition.
In line with the needs and aspirations of the present day society, the PVR can bring the police and the public closer.
“Previously, the PVR was not taken seriously. However, after the prime minister mentioned that he is keen on increasing the force of PVR, the organisation has seen light at the end of the tunnel.
“This is good news because PVR can work closely with the police to create a disciplined society and a society that understands and respects the laws of the country,” said Rozali, who works at the Alor Setar City Council during the day.
