Osaka Gas Engineering Co. (OGE) operates energr engineering projects in both Japan and
abroad, with sufrcient expertise as an operating am of Osala Gas Co., Ltd., the gas
supplier in the Kansai region centered in Osaka Japan's second largest emnomic area.
Our eompany starts a feasibility study GS) for oonsideration on potentials of 'Bio-cokd'
production business in Tbailand. The Bio'coke is a new type of solid fuel that is pmduced
with plant-derived wastes (biomass) by applying ertain pressure and heat. It can be used
as a substifirte for coal'coke in casting indushry and recarburizer in steel industry, wtricn
has alrcady been demonstrated in Japan. We assume that production mst of Bio'coke in
Thailand would be at the same level as oal'oke, taking into account availability and
prccurement mt of local biomass l€soulrees (mw materials of the Bio'coke). For your
infonnation, the OGE has alrready launched a Bio-oke project in lVlalaysia by introducing
Bio'coke production facilities, e4loring potential of commereial operation.
We believe the Bio-oke technolory will make significant ontribution to fight aeainst
global warming. The Government of Japan pmmotes exports of Japan's superior
environmental technologies to overseas countries as its policy, and in this regard, the OGE
rcceives govemmental strpports for this Bio'coke FS. Furthermore, this FS is conducted in
cooperatioo with Professor Tamio Ida of Kinki University who has innovated the Bio'mke
as well as Mizuho Information & Research Institute, Inc., an envirrnment &
energr onsultancy with good e:cperiences on envircnment businesses.
As a part of basic researches under the FS, we would like to visit you for information
during our stay in Thailand on November l7 - 19. Together with our partners,
Kinki University and Mizuhq we will pmvide you some erylanations on Bio-oke, hoping
in turn to leam about potential for biomass supply in your operation and sales onditions.
