As for support, military clubs receive their building, equipment, the grounds, and some maintenance, paying no federal or state taxes, and in some states no alcoholic beverage or sales taxes. Within the United States all clubs get free use of water garbage disposal, sewage disposal, and some grounds maintenance. Only the enlisted clubs get gas and electricity from operating funds available to the establishment.
Officers' clubs may charge monthly dues in addition to receiving financial support, as do all military clubs, from their special services branch, the exchanges(military retail stores), and headquarter commands. All clubs may purchase their supplies from commissary stores(military supermarkets) and the commissary and supply departments.
The Army and the Navy actively recruit at a number of colleges and universities for management trainees to fill both Government Civil Service(GS) Nonappropriated Funded(NAF) positions. These positions are graded and salaried according to their responsibilities, and offer fringe benefits along with a generous retirement system. The NAF system gives its employees one additional benefit, disability insurance, to protect them from non-job-connected injuries or illnesses. The Navy also runs a summer internship program for college and university juniors which offers outstanding pay and practical experience
