The hoisting mechanism comprises of an electrical hoisting motor/gearbox, a cable drum, the hoisting cable and a number of cable pulleys. From the winch drum, the hoisting cable passes through two cable pulleys in the top of the mast, continues through to the pulley on the lifting platform and terminates at the cable clamp at the top of the mast. At the cable clamps, a device checks that the cable is not slack. The motor/gearbox on the mast is mounted on a console attached to the mast. The hoisting cable is wound on a cable drum. If the hoisting system becomes overloaded, this will be detected by the frequency regulator of the hoisting motor. The cable on the cable drum can be inspected while standing on the hoist platform.
