Located south of the Long Duc Industrial Park, the new Cai Mep Thi Vai Port has a depth of 14m and is able to receive Panamax vessels of the 6,000TEU-class. There are 4 ports which opened in April 2013, and the port is scheduled to have a full 14 ports in operation in the future.
Other ports in Vietnam cannot receive big vessels, requiring transshipment in Hong Kong or Singapore which not only lengthens the lead time, but also increases the cost.
It is thought that in the near future, the new Cai Mep Thi Vai Port shall replace Cat Lai Port, becoming the main port in southern Vietnam and developing into the hub port of Southeast Asia.
Only 40km from Long Duc Industrial Park, this new port is expected to become a logistics base for the area.
