Only crossing, dead, broken or badly bruised branches shall be removed. These shall be pruned
with a clean cut. All pruning shall be done with sharp pruning tools. At the time of planting,
pruning cuts shall be made at the base of the branch at such a point and angle that neither the
branch collar nor the bark of the stem is damaged, and that no branch stub extends from the
collar. Crowns of young trees shall not be cut back to compensate for root loss. No leaders shall
be cut.
