Note: Our friends in the USA and nearby countries measure temperature in Farenheit. We here in Thailand use Celsius (Centigrade). Let's compare the two.
32C = 90F (That's hot in America, but not too hot)
36C = 97F (Very hot – anywhere)
38C = 100F (Extremely hot)
42C = 108F (Scorching)
Hotter than hot
The weather forecast for the next week is the same for much of Thailand: "Hot to very hot with haze during the day-time throughout the period."
Even Minnie Mouse is hot today. WEERAWONG WONGPREEDEE
High temperatures for the day vary from 35C all the way up to 42C. Night-time temperatures are still very warm, about 26C except in the far north where it will go down to a comfortable 22C at night.
Could you work outside in the sun like these workers? If you do, cover yourself. WEERAWONG WONGPREEDEE
If you want to talk about the heat in English, you will need some new vocabulary. Here are some useful words
scorching: so hot it can burn your skin
sizzling: so hot it can fry food
sweltering: so hot that you feel uncomfortable
boiling: so hot it can boil water
Where do you live? Let's look at the Weather Underground/ forecast for some of Thailand's cities.
Bangkok
It will feel hot, but we are lucky to be near the sea and we usually have a nice breeze during the day and night.
Khon Kaen
Oh, please. May I go somewhere else? It is too hot for humans to live.
Chiang Mai
This northern city was cold a month ago. Not any more. It is cool at night though.
