It should be clear from this chapter that the market for 3PL logistics services is
subject to ongoing change. Demand-side influences – a highly competitive
domestic market and opportunities in the CEE – require UK companies to
become increasingly efficient to maintain pole position in the European market.
Simultaneously, supply-side factors have seen major changes in ownership,
with increasing concentration in the top tier of operators. This has coincided
with concerns over the impact of EU regulations on UK operators, although in
context these are unlikely to halt the process of market consolidation and
globalization.
