6.3.2. Determination of hiding power of paint (CR)
CR plays an important role in determining the hiding power and
opacity of paints. The CR values indicate the good hiding power of paints. However, the CR depends on the PVC; an increased PVC
increases the CR. Fig. 15 reveals the CR of paints with various PVCs.
However, from the results, it can be concluded that increased PVC
and molecular weight increase hiding power. The hiding power of
paint increases because of an increase in the molecular weight,
whereas an increase in the number of the pigment affinic group
leads to improved dispersion.
