Carbon Label Building is a cooperation project between Thailand Business Council for Sustainable Development (TBCSD), Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) and Thailand Greenhouse Gas management organization (Public Organization) (TGO). Aiming to battle climate change issue in both mitigation and adaptation approaches by creating awareness on climate change to the public and taking action on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the project is initiated to address the one of the main sources of emitted greenhouse gas (GHG)- buildings.
Accordingly, the carbon label for building has been initiated in order to differentiate the “Low Carbon” buildings from the other existing buildings. This logo certified the GHG emission assessed from energy consumption and waste management of the existing building along with auxiliary facilities was decreased at least 10% comparing between year 2002 and the most recent year. The amount of GHG reduction over the assessed period of those buildings is a promising way to illustrate the social responsibility of building’s owners or leaseholders.
Currently, this project is in the initial stage of development. Criteria for the certification are being developed by the partner organizations.
