The whole process concerning the monitoring
of the vehicle fleet using GPS/GIS technology is
fully automated in all of its stages. This means
that, the exact position of each vehicle in the road
network is known at any time using also the spatial
information which is stored in a GIS (found in
the central station). It is obvious that, using radiocommunication
between central stations and mobile
receivers (stations), signals are easy to be
transmitted and exploitation of the results can be
made towards routing and scheduling of vehicles.
