In addition, CO2 emissions from the surveyed hotels were estimated based on a standard procedure for corporate GHG emission accounting in converting energy consumption into corresponding GHG emissions, default emission factors for gas and diesel from the literature were adopted. But for electricity, estimation was made based on a standard procedure and the available national statistics in order to reflect the recent progress made by the power generation industry. The estimated GHG emissions were normalized with GFA and number of room nights to allow peer comparisons to be made. In the future work, instead of having a single normalized measure, a few measures reflecting different aspects of a hotel’s operation and output could probably be reported and aggregated in a certain way.
