Chars obtained from the pyrolysis and activation processes were
designated as pyrolysis char and activated char, respectively. The surface
area, pore size distribution and N2 adsorption isotherms by nitrogen
adsorption at 77 K (BEL, Belsorp-mini Ï) were determined for all
pyrolysis chars and activated chars. Analysis samples weighing about
0.1 gwere degassed at 300 °C for 6 h under vacuum before the analysis.
The surface area was determined using the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller
(BET) equation. The pore size distribution was determined using the
micropore analysis (MP method) for micropore distribution and the
Barrett, Joyner and Halenda (BJH) model for mesopore distribution.
The micropore volume was calculated by the MP method, and the
mesopore volume was determined fromthe BJHmethod. Themacropore
