4. Conclusions
A method for the pre-concentration of toxic
metals (10 elements) in waste water and their
determination by ICP-AES was developed. It is
based on complex formation with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate,
co-precipitation of the
complexes with collector bis(ethanol) thiuram
disulfide produced ‘in situ’ by oxidation of the
excess of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate with
H2O2. The sediment was dissolved with HNO3
and the concentrated elements were determined
by ICP-AES. The method was applied for multielemental
analysis of river and waste water with
an enrichment factor of 40.
