When I was driving along a road on my motorbike I started to turn through a chicane. As l turned further my back wheel lost traction with the road, maybe due to some dirt or sand. probably would have just had road rash but unfortunately I hit a concrete lamppost. I came off the bike and landed on the floor. Upon looking at my leg it was bending in the wrong direction at which point I knew it was clearly broken. Fortunately my friend was following behind me and he phoned for an ambulance I was taken to Maharat Hospital where they splintered my leg, x-rayed me and admitted me into one of the wards. After a while a doctor came to tell me my options. He showed me my x-ray and advised that I had surgery to put a plate and screws n the tibia bone. Both bones had broken the tibia had multiple fractures and the fibula just was told the fibula didn't need fixation as it should join by itself. I decided to have the urgery. The following morning I was scheduled for surgery when I woke up l was told erything went well. Later A.Kalaya and A.Orasri came to the hospital to see if I was ok. At the me was in a ward with many patients and no air conditioning. A.Kalaya helped in getting a private room for the rest of my stay at the hospital. The accident happened only 3-4 weeks after arriving in Thailand. I had not had my first wage packet from the school and had no school insurance because my work permit had not come through yet. Fortunately A.Kalaya helped by paying for the hospital bill until I got paid. After a week in hospital I was discharged and allowed to go home I rested at home for another week and then A.Kalaya arranged to have the school van pick me up and take me home every day so that I could work. I started to do upper body exercises two weeks post operation. I needed to use crutches from May to October. At that point l started to use a walking stick. It took till November to be able to walk without any aid. I started to do therapy on my leg by swimming, stretching and gentle walks to build the strength back up. Around two years later decided to have the plate out of my leg as it would hurt when I ran or did intensive exercise. went to the doctors and they scheduled an appointment for 23" of September 2015. The operation went very well with no complications. Again there were initially no private rooms available but A.Kalaya managed to speak to her friends in the hospital to secure a room was only in hospital for a few days to let the swelling go down post operation. The hospital experience was brief and this time I was insured so only cost a little for the private room. Once home l rested for 4 weeks having to use a walking stick to a me. After the 4 weeks l could walk unaided. Now I feel good and my leg doesn't hurt but I have to wait another 2 months until I can run again
